One true sentence

I don’t know why, but today Hemingway popped into my head. I remembered his advice that a good way to start a story was to write one true sentence. Perhaps I was subconsciously looking for something solid and stable, something to hold on to. At first, it seemed a promising approach.

But then all I could think of were sentences like ‚God may not exist‘, ‚Some people think of Paris as the capital of the world‘, ‚Everything and everybody appear strange if looked at from a distance‘ or ‚I’ve always found the evening brighter than the morning‘.

I don’t think Hemingway would have considered any of those a ‚true‘ sentence.
